Our origin

Why this platform exists for disabled and dating adults

This started the way most things in the disability community start - out of need. In 2021, our co-founder got a feeding tube and quietly panicked about what dating would look like now. Within 24 hours, she sat down with her sister, sketched an app in a $3 spiral notebook, picked a name, and built a logo. There was no funding round and no script. There was a problem: mainstream apps were not built for us.

Eighty-eight percent of disabled dating-app users report harassment (American Institutes for Research, 2024). Most of the people we know had stopped using Tinder, Bumble, and Hinge - not because they stopped wanting love, but because the cost of being seen on those apps was too high. Ableist messages. Ghosting after disclosure. Devotees in the inbox by Tuesday.

Access and advocacy are core to what we do. That's why a robust free version exists - and always will. - Founders' note

We're not a charity, and we're not non-profit. We're a small, disabled-led team building a dating site for people with disabilities the way we wished one had existed when we needed it. Calm. Honest. Free at the core. Read more about us on the About page or see how it works.

What we stand for

Six inclusive dating principles we live by

We welcome everyone regardless of disability status - there's a real gray area in the disability community, and gatekeeping helps no one. At the same time, our mission is clear: most profiles you'll meet here are disabled or chronically ill. That's the design choice. These six principles guide every page, policy, and product decision.

  • Access is a right, not a favor. Screen-reader compatibility, keyboard navigation, captions, and reduced motion are baseline - not premium features.
  • You don't owe anyone a diagnosis. Disclose what you want, when you want. Communication-style badges let you signal needs without medical labels.
  • Devotees are banned, full stop. Fetishizing disability is reportable on first message, and we act on reports within 24 hours.
  • Slow is welcome. Text-first conversation is the default. Nobody is rushed onto video, voice, or in-person meetups.
  • LGBTQIA+ inclusion is non-negotiable. Multiple gender and orientation options, partner preferences without binary defaults, and trans-affirming language across the platform.
  • Free at the core. A robust free tier exists because access without payment is the point - not a marketing trick.
Why we're different

Why dating sites for people with disabilities feel different from generic apps

Disabled dating isn't about lowering expectations or finding "special" partners. It's about a space where accessibility, communication, and empathy are built in from the start - instead of bolted on after a complaint. Here's a side-by-side of what changes when a dating site is designed by and for disabled users.

What you experience Generic dating apps Fast Dating Chat
Disclosure pressure Disclose early or face ghosting after photos reveal a wheelchair, AAC device, or service dog.
Devotees and fetishizers Common. Reports often closed without action. Same accounts return under new names.
Screen-reader support Partial. Profile cards often unlabeled. Filters fail with assistive tech.
Photo-first culture Profiles ranked by appearance. Voice and text chat hidden behind paywalls.
Cost to actually use it Most useful features paywalled. Many users on SSI/SSDI priced out entirely.

Comparison reflects features as of April 2026.

Real stories

Real stories from disabled and dating members

Some of these couples were featured in mainstream press. Most just live their lives. All of them met here.

I matched with my husband Collin within three days of joining. When we met, everything just aligned. Our wedding was also a celebration of his life after surgery and serious complications. We're proof that this works.

Kaci Married · Featured in PEOPLE

On Tinder I'd get fetishized within an hour. Here, my AKA status is a sentence in my bio, not a target on my back. I went on three calm dates last month. Three. That's a record.

Marcus Above-knee amputee · 41

As a late-diagnosed autistic person, I was tired of masking on every app. The slow-paced badge meant my partner already knew I'd take a day to reply. We've been together fourteen months.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about our disabled dating site

Quick, direct answers. For anything not covered here, see our full FAQ page or contact us.

Is there a Tinder for disabled people?

Yes. Fast Dating Chat is one of several disabled dating sites built specifically for people with disabilities and chronic illness. Unlike Tinder, the platform is text-first, screen-reader friendly, and bans devotees and fetishizers by policy. Most profiles you'll see are disabled or chronically ill, but allies are welcome too.

Is there a free dating site for disability?

Fast Dating Chat offers a robust free version with full messaging, profile creation, and access to all 12 community categories. Access and advocacy are core to what we do, so we will always keep a meaningful free tier - even though we are not a non-profit. Premium features are optional.

Is it okay to date someone with a disability?

Yes - and asking that question already shows respect. Dating a disabled person is dating a whole person who happens to have a disability. The healthiest interabled relationships treat accessibility as collaboration, not caretaking. Read our myths about disability and relationships guide for more.

How do you keep devotees and fetishizers off the platform?

We use light vetting at signup to weed out bots, scammers, and disability fetishizers. The team takes reporting seriously and believes victims regardless of gender. We do not require driver's license verification - that's a privacy risk, and as our founders put it, "Ted Bundy had a driver's license." Education through in-app safety guides is treated as the strongest defense.

Do I have to disclose my disability in my profile?

No. Disclosure is your choice. Many members use communication-style badges (text-first, slow-paced, voice-optional) to share needs without naming a diagnosis. Others list their disability openly. Both are equally welcome. See our three-stage disclosure guide if you're unsure.

Is the site LGBTQIA+ inclusive?

Yes, fully. We support multiple gender identities and orientations at signup, partner preferences without binary defaults, and trans-affirming language sitewide. The disability community is queer in large numbers, and our platform reflects that.

Is the platform accessible for screen-reader and keyboard users?

Yes. Every page is built with WCAG 2.2 in mind, tested with NVDA, VoiceOver, and TalkBack. Every interactive control is keyboard navigable with visible focus outlines. We also support reduced motion, image descriptions, captioned video chat, and a dark theme. Found a barrier? Tell us - we fix accessibility issues fast.
